Today, we're thrilled to feature Cathleen Lucera, Sales Manager, CarShop - Mount Holly, in this week's "Women in the Driver's Seat" spotlight.
What inspired you to pursue a career in the automotive industry?
At the time I was working two jobs, CarShop (at the time CarSense) and a local grocery store in their finance/accounting department. CarSense presented me the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. With the support that came with the company I could not pass on that chance.
What part of your job do you find most satisfying?
The thing I enjoy the most is being able to share my knowledge with my team throughout the day. Helping them navigate challenges and helping them grow are the things I strive to be successful in during my career.
What motivates you every morning?
Every day I know there will be an opportunity to learn something new.
What has been one of the most rewarding moments in your career?
My most rewarding moment was when I went out of my comfort zone and put myself in the mix for the sales manager promotion. Once I was given the opportunity and was performing well in the role, I was thankful I took the offer.
How do you feel women have made a unique contribution to the automotive industry?
Women bring a unique sense of compassion, empathy, and perspectives that can lead to new innovations within the industry.
Can you share a lesson or insight you’ve gained during your career journey?
The one lesson I can give is to not take anything personally and use situations as opportunities to learn and grow.

What advice would you give to other women aspiring to pursue a career in the automotive industry?
I would tell them to take every chance that is offered to you and speak up when you have an idea to share. Let your voice and ideas be heard.
What hobbies do you enjoy?
I enjoy going crabbing, bird watching, going to antique shops, and day trips to different museums.
