This week in our Women in the Driver’s Seat series, we’re excited to spotlight Whitley Burr, Corporate Manager of Talent Acquisition at Premier Truck Group.
How long have you been in the trucking industry?
I have been working at Premier Truck Group for 11 years.
Can you share a few sentences about your career journey in the trucking industry?
I began my career at PTG as a Human Resources Representative at one of our dealerships. I was then
promoted to a Corporate Staffing and Employment position, which was a great fit for my previous
experience in recruitment. As the organization continued to grow, I received the exciting opportunity to
advance to my current role as Corporate Manager of Talent Acquisition.
What do you enjoy most about working in the trucking industry?
I love the truck dealership environment because it is the perfect blend of professionalism and
still being very down to earth.
Can you describe a key initiative or project you’ve led or contributed to that made a meaningful impact on the business?
PTG has experienced ongoing growth through the acquisition of existing dealer groups. As we continue to
expand and consolidate multiple groups into one, it has become essential to streamline our employer brand
and hiring practices. I was honored to contribute to the development of our employer brand and to support
a consistent approach to our hiring practices by incorporating new technologies and building strong
relationships with recruitment partners.
What are your standout strengths?
I believe my key strengths are creativity and relationship-building. I enjoy presenting materials in a fun and
sometimes quirky way, and I love developing creative recruiting campaign strategies. In Talent Acquisition,
people are the core of the business, and relationships are key. Lucky for me, I genuinely enjoy getting to
know and interacting with others.
What are your favorite hobbies or interests?
My favorite hobby is traveling. I enjoy spending extended weekends exploring new places and experiencing
different environments. As a self-proclaimed theme park enthusiast, my favorite destinations to visit
repeatedly are Disney and Universal.
What advice would you give to other women considering a career in the automotive or trucking
industry?
My best advice for women considering a career in the automotive or trucking industry is to keep an open
mind. While many of us may not have grown up dreaming of working at a truck dealership, this field has
repeatedly proven to be a great choice. The industry is filled with humble, kind, and welcoming team
members who make it a great place to be.
