This week in our Women in the Driver’s Seat series, we’re proud to spotlight Jaseli Ramos, General Sales Manager, Chevy and Cadillac of Turnersville.
How long have you been in the automotive industry?
I have worked in the automotive industry for 14 years.
Can you share a few sentences about your career journey in the automotive industry?
I started as a cashier at Acura Turnersville while pursuing my bachelor’s degree in psychology. After graduation, I took some time to figure out my next steps and what sector I wanted to explore for my master’s. During that time, an opportunity became available for an Internet Sales Consultant position. I fell in love with assisting customers in finding the perfect vehicle for their needs. With the endless support of leadership and the resources available within the PAG network, I was able to build a career in an industry I never imagined would be more than a college job. I am immensely grateful and appreciative of the opportunities I’ve been given.
What do you enjoy most about working in the automotive industry?
The automotive industry is ever-changing, and you must be able to adapt on the fly. What I enjoy most is the opportunity to strategize on the best ways to adjust to the market. It allows for creativity and collaboration with the team to come up with the best solutions for both our staff and our customers.
What are your standout strengths?
My standout strength is the ability to strategize with the team to think outside the box and develop creative solutions to everyday challenges.
What are your favorite hobbies or interests?
When I’m not at the dealership, I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my two pit bulls, Luna (11), and Marnie (1)! Whether we’re going for a walk (though it’s questionable who’s walking who) or tossing a ball in the backyard, they always keep me active. Aside from that, I enjoy reading and indulging in my guilty pleasure of any Bravo TV reality show.
What’s your favorite motivational song or songs?
Rise Up by Andra Day - always helps me get back to center.
What motivates you each day?
My friends, my family, my dogs, and my team motivate me. Not every day goes perfectly, but I’m always grateful for the opportunities and life this industry has allowed me to have.
What advice would you give to other women considering a career in the automotive industry?
If you have a passion for seeing your hard work pay off, there’s no better industry and no better organization to provide you with the tools and resources needed to succeed. The drive will come from within, but the atmosphere will motivate you to become the best version of yourself, with the freedom to do so in a way that is uniquely yours. I started as a cashier, thinking I’d leave after college. Here I am, 14 years later - more encouraged, supported, and excited to contribute to something bigger than selling cars.
